CFACT: 'Hunting Is Conservation' Speech At WVU
Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow’s (CFACT) Campus Division — Collegians for a Constructive Tomorrow— was in need of a campus lecturer to discuss the benefits of hunting as a means of conservation for a talk at West Virginia University for April 2018. A friend of mine and former employee for the organization pitched me to present on Facebook best practices. CFACT describes itself as the “national, student-based nonprofit that believes in promoting prosperity, protecting liberty, and enjoying nature. Free markets, private property rights, and environmental stewardship are the keys to a prosperous society and constructive tomorrow for people and nature too.” The campus division is led by Adam Houser and Graham Beduze.

- Highlighting the history of the conservation movement in the U.S.
- Emphasizing figures highlighting contributions of hunters to habitat and wildlife restoration efforts
- Discussed importance of Pittman-Robertson Act
- Detailed the North American Wildlife Conservation Model and its importance as code of ethics
- Proposed / offered solutions on how to close the gap on hunting participation
- Participating in Q& A
Here are pictures from the lecture for your viewing pleasure:
As a result of my participation, members of the WVU College Republicans and Turning Point USA chapters said they are better prepared to argue the conservation benefits of hunting and true environmentalism. They expressed to me their hope to see this replicated elsewhere across the country.
