National Energy Appreciation Day Celebration – October 4th, 2023

Independent Women’s Forum (IWF), where I serve as a senior fellow, recently celebrated the launch of the inaugural celebration of National Energy Appreciation Day (NEAD) to be commemorated every October 4th from here on out.

Here’s what NEAD entails:

National Energy Appreciation Day (NEAD), observed annually on October 4th, will recognize the importance of our domestic energy industry to modern life and celebrate the men and women who make it work.

The U.S. energy mix is truly reflective of an all-of-the-above approach. Coal, oil and natural gas make up 80% of our daily energy needs, nuclear makes up 8% and a variety of renewables such as hydro, biomass, wind, and solar make up 12%. In recent years, some energy technologies have sought to undermine the growth of other energy technologies by painting them in a negative light. We recognize all of our energy resources tradeoffs and benefits. On this day, we want to celebrate them all and focus on how our modern energy system has changed the trajectory of our economy and standard of living!
