The Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources (DWR) recently announced the creation of the first elk hunting season in the Elk Management Zone (EMZ) in southwestern Virginia. How awesome is that?!
While the number of available tags hasn’t been disclosed yet, here’s what we do know:
- Resident and non-resident applicants will be eligible to apply for a non-refundable application fee between February 1-March 30, 2022
- If selected, residents will pay $40 for a special elk tag license while non-residents will pay $400.
- The season will last seven days in October.-No hunting with dogs or calibers below .23.
