On Independence Day, a couple friends and I ventured to Shenandoah National Park to get some hiking in. We did about 3 miles roundtrip—plus incline—starting at the Dark Hollow Trail and traversing some of the Rose River Trail nearby. The last time I went to Shenandoah NP was in spring 2015 to hike Old Rag Mountain—so it was nice to return. It was a great day to get some steps in, surround ourselves with nature, and check out some new spots. While crowded, we enjoyed the waterfalls on both trails and visiting the Harry F. Byrd Visitor Center in nearby Big Sky Meadow.
