[PHOTOS] VA RMEF Elk Rendezvous Weekend — 03/29-31/2019

From March 29-31, 2019, I ventured down to Grundy, Virginia, to participate in our state Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (RMEF)’s Rendezvous Weekend. It was my first time down that way. I primarily assumed media/reporting duties. This is one of a series of posts on the weekend. I’ll have an article at Sporting Classics Daily and an episode of my upcoming CFACT video series on the elk recovery efforts in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for that.

Throughout the weekend, volunteers helped paint gates, construct elk sanctuaries, built viewing stations, and improved habitat. Lots of good times were had, new friendships were forged, and lasting memories were made.

There were roughly 124 volunteers for the work weekend—up from 28 last year. How awesome is that? Seems like more conservation-minded Virginians care about seeing this herd grow to great heights.

Here are some pictures from the weekend. (Note: unless you get explicit permission from me, please don’t share this photos.)
