Did you know there are Free Fishing Days across this nation happening in June? Well, now you do if you didn’t before.
For those of us in the Commonwealth of Virginia, our Free Fishing Days event takes place today, June 1st, until Sunday, June 3rd, in conjunction with both National Boating and Fishing Week AND Great Outdoors Month. What does this mean for seasoned anglers or newbie anglers? You can fish sans license! Here’s more about Free Fishing Days from TakeMeFishing.org:
Free fishing days are a perfect opportunity for beginners to try out fishing for the first time. If you already have a fishing license, consider taking a friend or family member who has never been fishing, out on the water for the day. Find out what you need to get out on the water. Learn how to fish, find places to fish and boat using our interactive map, get a fishing license or register your boat.

June 1, 2, and 3, 2018 have been designated as Free Fishing Days in Virginia. No fishing license of any kind will be required for rod and reel fishing in freshwater or saltwater, on these days. I went fishing in coastal Virginia today to celebrate the start of National Fishing & Boating Week + Free Fishing Days. Sadly, wasn't successful with surf fishing–too many sandbars and perhaps not the best of luck. (There's always a next time!) Hope you all got out on the water today, as well.
