What is Social Media Day? Here’s some context behind the event:
On June 30, 2010, Mashable launched Social Media Day as a way to recognize and celebrate social media’s impact on global communication. Today, social media is the heart of global communication; and since its inception, Mashable’s been using social media to connect between cultures, movements and super-fandom.
I took it to both Facebook and Twitter to dish on some social media best practices. You can watch the clips below:

Overall, these were the points I made:
- Have a presence on social media platforms
- Aspire to be a positive force, not a negative one
- Don’t abuse privileges
- Add value to social media
